I found this video on youtube. I built a grapple utility bucket from components for a utility grapple bucket originally designed for small skid steer loaders that our company produces. I built my own quick attach plates after getting the top clevis and JD dealer. Post your homemade attachments. Built a crane for my skid steer. Machine is rated around 2500 lbs load, 5000 lbs tipping. Mast is three stage telescopic. Has a lifting eye at the tip for slings, or can be used with a winch with the pulley at the tip. All in all, it works really slick. The best part is now you you don't have to square off with the log pile to load like you do with a grapple bucket. You can now go from the side and go from the top down and it has a nice high reach. Eta- Here's a picture of the log pile to make it a little more clear. I made wood templates of the grapple arms so i could get my steel yard to cut them out of 3/4" plate on there CNC table. I welded on 4 excavator teeth, did lots of pre heat and 3 passes. Also welded on 2 chain hooks for easy chain points if ever get the skid steer stuck or need to drag something.
I first started welding (root passes) the bucket with 7018 stick, but bought a new MillerMatic 251 wire feed machine (for another project) that can weld 1/2" in a single pass. The new wire feed made short work of the welding. I probably have 8 hours into cutting, welding, and drilling this bucket.
