Apr 16, 2020 He bought a 2001 Deere 260 to use around his property. The machine has 3,000 hours but is in very nice shape. He did a full service on it and noticed that the right chain case was overfull and pressurized.
I have a 260 two speed John Deere Skidsteer, it has a ratcheting noise on the right side and pulls to the left. The drive motors had been rebuilt before I purchased it. The chain and sprocket look new .
1. Park machine safely. (See Parking Safely in the SAFETY section.) KV15227. 2. Remove each drain plug (B) located on bottom rear of skid steer. 3. Fill each chain case until oil appears at fill plug threads. Chain case capacity is 11.5 L (3.1 gal) . If the drive motor is trying to turn the chains, he problem is in the chain case. If no movement, then the drove motor brake is locked. Follow the linkage from the brake actuator and see if it can be loosened.
