Pull the glow plugs out of all 4 cylinders. Then use a wrench, socket or what ever and turn it over clockwise from the back end, side with the timing belt. I couldn't get it to turn at all. The fan does turn by hand. The battery has been charged and all cables cleaned, including the connection on the starter solenoid. I turn the key and I get a fast flutter of the starter and the engine will try to turn over but only makes a 1/2 turn. The flutter sounds like a selenoid making and breaking contact. I .
You might have a bad valve or seat but it should still start. Does it crank over plenty fast or does it struggle?

You might have a bad valve or seat but it should still start. Does it crank over plenty fast or does it struggle? I would also put a volt meter probe on the positive terminal of solenoid at cold start up, note voltage. Then when it quits, check voltage again and note any change. If there is a large drop in cold/hot voltage, I would start going back through the .
