h.i gu ys I got a 2000 John Deere 260 skid steer that's being delivered to my residents the skid steer has no hydraulics and the brake is engaged. any ideas how I'm going to get it off the guys trailer?. I know they're going to load it onto the trailer with a big loader with forklifts should I haven't put it on top of Boards so we can slide it off?

This is a John Deere 90 skid steer. Fairly small, weighs about 3500 lbs, 23 horse engine, built in the 1980's. It's sitting in a valley about 300 yards from my house/workshop. Engine won't start. No compression in one cylinder. I changed the valve seat in that cylinder about 10 running hours ago, but it didn't last. I jacked up the front of the uni-loader to facilitate thorough drainage toward the rear drain plug. Using a heat gun I melted the ice and drained the chain-case. Found and removed the broken chain. It had broken across 4 sequential links. I rotated the front-right wheel while examining the teeth of its driven sprocket (33). The teeth looked good. A user asks for help with a recurring problem of breaking the drive chain from the drive motor on a Case 1845b skid steer. Other users suggest possible causes and solutions, such as wheel bearings, chain tension, sprockets, shaft, and parking brake pins. I had a similar problem a few months ago. I ended up replacing the engine while the skid was in a pasture. It helped to put a 4x8 sheet of plywood behind it to use as a smooth workspace and to stay out of the mud/grass.

Hello, I have a 2015 CAT 259D and need to remove the front door and bypass the door latch switch in order to run a backhoe attachment. Is there a wiring harness plug or something needed to do this (and reverse the process when I reinstall the door)? The drive couplers on Cat skid steers, I try to find justification to replace them every time the engine or pump comes out. They're usually showing some signs of wear/stress at 2,000+ hours. I don't know the specific process on an 1816, but on other Case skid loaders of the era, the process involved supporting the skid steer on jackstands, removing the tires, removing an inspection plate/s and checking the chain tension and inspecting the sprockets (for sharp and worn edges). Then adjust the tension as needed according to the manual.
