Quick attach snowplow for skid steer bucket. My goal was to build a 2-in-1 system that I could quickly switch between. I built a grapple utility bucket from components for a utility grapple bucket originally designed for small skid steer loaders that our company produces. I built my own quick attach plates after getting the top clevis and JD dealer. I'm thinking of building a snow plow set-up for my skid steer because I'm tired of plowing with my bucket. The bucket works, but I think a regular snow plow blade would work much better. Here are my thoughts : first buy a quick attachment plate to mount the plow frame onto, I'm thinking 5/16" or 3/8" thick.
I built a 10' pusher out of a John Deere snow blade for a backhoe. I made it quick attach to my John Deere Tractor loader and installed a rubber edge that I ordered from plow rubber. The side plates are 3' by 3' and are 1/4" the skid shoes are made of snow plow cutting edges and the braces for the side plates out of used 3" by 3" 1/4" angle iron.
I am in the process of building a snow plow for my bobcat t750. I bought a older truck Meyer plow off of one of my buddies and cut off the pin connections that would have gone to the truck and welded it solid onto a QA plate.
I just built a skid steer plow last year. I used an older 8 foot fisher straight blade. I cut the 3 hole mounting ears on it, tilted the plow up a bit then solid welded it to the bobtach plate. I went with the heavy duty plate from bob cat.
Started my snowplow project this past week and got chance to use it in 3” of heavy wet snow. Plow is 6ft wide, made out of two old 43” Deere plows, skid steer plate and some scrap steel. Traded garden tractor stuff for the plows. First make or buy the quick attach plate for the skid steer. If you are good at steel work you can fab one, otherwise it will cost you anywhere from 100-300 for the plate. Weld the plate to your blade and voila you have a manual snow plow.
