cat 299d3 Louisiana. Nov 15, 2020. #1. Bought a brand new 299d3 with prinoth mulching head. Machine ran great for 2-3 hours and now won’t rev past 1200 rpm. It seems as if it’s electronically limited. Any idea on what would cause this? It had an alert for intake gas temperature below normal since I picked it up but ran fine for awhile prior to the issue. Aug 13, 2018. #1. Looking for some help with our 299D skid steer. The quick coupler to change bucket to forks isnt working from the switch inside the cab. I can use my power probe and apply a ground and 12 volts directly at the back of the coupler motor and it will work fine. I only have 3.6 volts and the back of the switch coming from the ECM. Drain the def and then turn the key off. Refill with new def and then operate as normal. Doing it this way will reset the timer for checking def quality and you will know right away if there is still a problem. If the code comes back then cat owes you a def armature. R.Georgia. Not sure if there is a way to bench test the current sensor to see if it has failed again. Inactive DTC Codes (Can’t Clear): DTC 100-1 (Engine Oil Pressure Sensor Low – Most Severe 3) DTC 190-0 (Engine Speed Sensor High – Most Severe 3) DTC 636-8 (Engine Position Sensor Abnormal Frequency Pulse Width or Period) CAT0299DCDX201868. Side note: owners manual shows fuse #8 to be for AC but when take the cover off, the picture on the back of the panel shows #8 to be a spare. And after lifting the cab to verify, it is in fact a spare, goes to nothing. Fuse #13 is HVAC Blower/Compressor and it’s good. Would like to know how my “AC” has worked without . Now days an OEM cant keep those things a secret. Maybe they will do something for all those who bought these early production machines and are having problems. History would say they wont, but who knows. The last thing I would say is 0K for a 299D3 seems like an awful lot of money.
